Parent and child machine sewing

A number of you have asked whether we could offer a parent and child session where you can learn how to use a sewing machine with your child to help them when things go wrong at home.
On this 2 hour workshop, you will learn how to thread and use a sewing machine by making a tote bag. All materials and machines included. If you are bringing your own machine, please ensure that it has been serviced in the last 2 years and that you bring the operating manual.
Suitable for complete beginners
Boys Sewing class
- 5 weeks
- Dates: Friday 15th September
- Time: 4-5.30pm
From fisherman to tailors, sewing has always been in the male domain and last year’s winner of the Great British Sewing Bee was a man. So join us for
some fabulous “boy” projects.
Children Beginners Knitting
- 5 sessions
- Dates: Monday 11th September
- Time: 5.30 - 6.15 pm
Price includes a set of needles and ball of yarn
We will cover all the knitting basics The course will include:
- the very beginning – how to hold your needles and make a slip knot
- casting on and off
- knit and purl
- garter stitch, stocking stitch, stripes etc.
- increasing and decreasing
- reading a pattern
- 5 sessions
- Dates: Starting September 11th Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays 4.00 - 5.30 pm
- Time: Saturdays 9.45-11.15 or 11.15-12.45
Price includes all equipment plus refreshments. Fabric for dressmaking projects not included
If you are aged 7-13 and would like to learn to sew, then this course is for you. Suitable for both beginners and those with a little more experience.
The course is project based and will include a mixture of hand sewing and machine sewing to improve your skills.
